Tropsztyn Castle is a reconstruction of a fortified castle erected on a steep peninsula surrounded on three sides by the Dunajec river in the Czchów commune. The original castle was probably built at the beginning of the 13th century. Its first mention comes from 1231. Since that time the castle has had many owners and in 1574, during the Counter-Reformation, it was ruined. In 1863, the Sącz historian Szczęsny Morawski carried out the first archaeological excavations in the castle. In 1970 Andrzej Benesz became the owner of the castle.
