Dybów Castle

Dybów Castle (Polish: Zamek Dybów) is a castle in Toruń, Poland. It is a national Object of Cultural Heritage.

Built by Casimir IV Jagiellon in the period 1424-1428, during the Swedish-Polish wars the castle was burned down by the Swedes in 1656. In the eighteenth century, the castle was owned by the Dębski family, and a distillery was opened. In 1813, forty French, under the command of Lieutenant Savary in the castle, withstood a three-month siege by the Russians. The castle has survived to this day in the form of ruins, with preserved perimeter walls, and a 2-storey gate tower and fortifications. The excavation of the castle was carried out in...
