In the expositions, more than 400 pieces of three-dimensional collection objects presenting armaments, equipment and technology used in Czechoslovakia are open to the public. army from the end of World War II until 1992, as well as the technique used by the Army of the Slovak Republic, then the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic. Most of the large collection items are available on the outside.
The focus of the exhibition is in Hall 1 (H1), which houses collection items that bring visitors closer to the period weapons, equipment and technology of Czechoslovakia. army, used in the period 1945 - 1992. Other unique large-scale museum additions to the exhibition were placed in the newly built P2 shelter in the summer of 2017.
In 2015, modern ICT tools were added to the museum, such as interactive touch information kiosks, info panels, guidance and information stations after the exhibition, and other multimedia technologies. Among other things, visitors to VHM can watch 3D animation, which presents the top 12 collection items from Piešťany, Svidník and the lookout tower in Dukla. The museum also offers a 27-minute documentary Steel Silence about the Military History Institute. In addition to the presentation of its tasks and activities, it also presents the most important milestones in the military history of Slovakia from the outbreak of the First World War to the Cold War.
As of 31 December 2019, the Museum Department of Piešťany registers 9,272 collection items in the collection fund, included in 22 museum collections.
