Ayasuluk Fortress, which is seen today, is the Seljuk - Ottoman fortress. The inner fortress, like the outer walls, was built using rubble stones and spolia and was reinforced with 15 towers. The Inner Castle has two entrances in the west and the east. The west gate must be protected by overflowing walls. Inside the fortress there are five cisterns. One of them is actually the eastern (apse) part of the basilica built during the Byzantine period.
