Fossen Bratte (also called the Brudesløret, e.g. Bridal veil) is a waterfall in Eikedalselva at the bottom of Eikedalen in Samnanger municipality. A married couple, René Zephir Laigle (28 years) and Ginette Doux Laigle (24 years old) were on honeymoon when they drove off the road on July 13, 1951. They drove out at the top of the waterfall and both lost their lives. A memory card has been set up at the bottom of the valley. A widespread misunderstanding is that the incident gave the waterfall the nickname "The Bridal veil". But the name "The bridal veil" was all used when tourism shot off...
